Rudo is the GCEO of the Boka Group of Companies Zimbabwe, a third-generation family business with interests in Real Estate, Construction, Gold and Chrome mining, Jewellery manufacturing, Financial Services, Agricultural Commodities Exchange and small grains production.

She is the founder of Women Investing in Strategic Enterprises (WISE) and is a member of Women in Tobacco, an international membership organisation for women working in the tobacco industry. She is also a member of the BAT Zimbabwe Tobacco Empowerment Trust and currently chairs their Technical Committee.

She has 20 years’ experience in business having commenced her career as her Father’s assistant in 1996 from the age of 20. Following the conglomerate’s collapse in 1999, Rudo commenced judicial action to save the group from liquidation. This process was finalised over a ten-year period to achieve rebirth and transformation of the business entity.

Jane Nalunga

Jane Seruwagi Nalunga is currently the Country Director of Southern and Eastern African Trade, Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI)–Uganda. SEATINI is a regional NGO with offices in Harare-Zimbabwe, and Nairobi-Kenya.

Jane’s major areas of interest and expertise are trade, tax and investment policies at national, regional, bilateral and multilateral levels; and how these issues interact with and impact on peoples’ Economic, Social and Cultural Rights especially those of the most vulnerable i.e. the women. She has followed closely the trade negotiations at the multilateral level (World Trade Organisation) and the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Negotiations between the European Union and African Countries, the bilateral Investment Treaties and the regional integration processes including the East African Community, the EAC-COMESA-SADC Tripartite negotiations and the Continental Free Trade Area.

She has participated in and presented papers at various high-level meetings/conferences and has undertaken, co-authored and supervised research studies in these areas. Jane works closely with, and advises government and Parliament on trade, tax and investment policy issues; and has been a member of the Uganda official delegation to the WTO Ministerial Conferences and to the EPA negotiations. Jane represents SEATINI on a number of national bodies i.e. the Inter Institutional Committee, a committee, which advises government on trade matters, the National Development Trade Forum and the Regional Trade Forum; which deal with the EPA negotiations at national and regional level respectively. Jane is an ardent advocate of pro-development trade, tax and investment policies.

Jane was a lecturer in the History Department, Makerere University and also worked in the Central Bank of Uganda in the Human Resources department. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English Language; a Diploma in Education from Makerere University; and a Masters of Arts in African History from the University of London. She is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS).

She has also attended numerous short courses in the areas of trade, development, finance, human resources, cooperate governance and gender.
